About this event

📢 Important Announcement:

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news that we’re having to postpone the festival on the 22nd October. The main reason for us having to postpone the festival is that on the same day there are national rail disruptions and rail strikes happening on major routes into Manchester and across the UK.

Access and inclusion is really important to us and we see postponing the festival as an act of collective care. We acknowledge this disruption to the festival is disappointing, though at the same time we understand the worker's striking.

FAQ:

Some of us can still make it, can it still go ahead?

The festival is about bringing LGBTQ POC together from across the UK. And it wouldn’t be fair that only some can get to the festival and enjoy the day. The disruptions also made it challenging for facilitators to get to the festival. Meeting other LGBTQ POC is part of the Colours Youth Network experience, we don’t want to compromise that.

What about alternative travel?

We checked out coach travel but this meant journeys for some people of over 5 hours each way. We considered overnight stays too but realised it wouldn’t be feasible to offer this option to everyone who might have needed it.

I was really looking forward to this, what else can I do?

We totally understand. Send us a message and we can signpost you to local LGBTQ POC organisations and groups to connect with. You can also find your local LGBT youth group through The Proud Trust’s youth group finder: theproudtrust.org/young-people/youth-groups

When will a new date be announced?

We’re really passionate about creating thoughtful and meaningful spaces for you. We need to go back to the drawing board and consider how to plan a festival in the current uncertain times. We hope to be able to give you some updates soon.

Thank you for your support and understanding - Colours Youth Team x

After a 2 year break, Colours Youth Festival is BACK!

The festival is a day of workshops, social space, performances and more for LGBTQ young people of colour aged 16-25 from the UK*

The programme for the day will be released a few weeks before the event and you can sign up to workshops on the morning of the event. There will be a mixture of workshops from 2020 and some new ones thrown in too.

For an idea of what to expect this year, at the 2020 festival we had workshops and talk spaces on on QTIPOC activism, vogue and runway basics, affirmations and self care, group singing, make up with LUSH, accessibility, patch making, trans poc history, religion and faith, coming out, indoor games and a key note from a special guest!
